Winter tires for the 2019-2020 season - news, recommendations

2019-10-25

Even though October brought us an exceptionally warm weather, the forecasts for November are not so optimistic. Therefore, we should already think about replacing the tires with those that will allow us to safely cover the next kilometers in the safest possible way. To make it a bit easier for you to choose the next set of winter tires, we have prepared several recommendations, which are supported by our observations and feedback from customers.

As a first step, we would like to take a look at the new model of the Nokian brand, which over the years has accustomed us to the excellent quality of its products and extremely good driving characteristics. The model in question is called WR Snowproof and is equipped with a number of new manufacturing technologies, which translate into both comfort of use and safety. All Sense Grip technology is designed to ensure grip in all weather conditions and improve the predictability of the vehicle, both in rain and in snow. The use of Silent Sidewall Technology additionally strengthens the properties of the tire to absorb vibrations, while offering a lower noise level. The tires are available in many sizes, and the most popular ones - 205/55/16 and 205/50/17 provide C and B ratings for rolling pores, a B rating for wet performance and just 69dB of noise emissions in all sizes.

Another novelty worth considering is the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-005, which, thanks to the innovative composition of the compound called Nano Pro-tech, which uses a greater amount of silica, provides greater stability by ensuring the continuous elasticity of the tread, while reducing the susceptibility to deformation of the sides of the tire. The new tread pattern improves traction between the snow in the grooves of the tire and on the road. The tires can easily compete with models such as the Continental TS860

We can definitely recommend the Nokian WR D4 tires for users who are reserved about new products. The tire has managed to win a huge crowd of satisfied customers. Our contractors also speak very positively about this model. The tire label guarantees excellent performance on wet surfaces with an "A" rating in this category. The emitted noise is also at a great level of 69dB.

The next places on our podium are also taken by our last year's favorites, so the Continental TS860 and Dunlop Winter Sport 5. It should be noted that the first of them may be a bit louder, but the performance of both models is exemplary, both on wet and snow-covered surfaces.

For a moment, we would also like to focus on all-season tires. It is true that we have always approached this type of tires with caution, but thanks to the opinions of our customers, we can also recommend tires that will be perfect for users traveling short distances, mainly in the urban cycle. In addition, this solution will allow you to save a bit on the seasonal replacement of tires. The models recommended by us in this category are the Michelin CrossClimate Plus and the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 DriveGuard. The second model is a complete novelty and the recommendation is based mainly on the previous experience with this manufacturer and the labels placed on the tires :)
