205/55 R16 summer tire test 2016
With the start of the summer season, many people are forced to purchase new tires for their vehicles. Even if the tread depth seems sufficient, we may be surprised by the condition of the rubber itself and seemingly minor surface cracks caused by the tire's age and exposure to weather conditions. If the tire repairer determines that our safety is at risk, we face the dilemma of choosing new tires, but the multitude of parameters and the dynamically evolving market often leave us perplexed. Although manufacturers are required to provide labels informing us about noise levels, wet grip, and rolling resistance, it's worth familiarizing yourself with tests conducted by reputable automotive websites and magazines.

205/55 R16 is one of the most popular tire sizes found on passenger cars. The German magazine AUTO BILD conducted a test of tires from various brands in this size.
The results showed that the winner in wet braking from 80km/h was the Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue (reaching 27m), followed closely by the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 , which was only 90cm longer. Next came the Semperit Speed-Life 2 , Uniroyal RainSport 3 (91 V) and Bridgestone Turanza T001 .
The podium order changed during the braking test from 100 km/h on dry surfaces, where the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 achieved the best result (34.6 m). It was followed by the Continental PremiumContact 5 and Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue . Taking into account other criteria, such as wear rate, noise, rolling resistance, and comfort, the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 emerged victorious, closely followed by the Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue , Continental Premium Contact 5 , and Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance .
When choosing tires, remember that test results apply only to the selected tire size. Therefore, when deciding to purchase tires with different parameters, user reviews available on most websites selling these products will be helpful. We should make our selection not only considering cost but also bearing in mind that the tire is the only element connecting our vehicle to the road, determining both our safety and that of other road users.
