The number "16" indicates the rim diameter in inches, which is the diameter of the spot where the tire is mounted. The notation "5x105" in turn indicates the mounting method: the rim has five mounting holes evenly spaced around a 105 mm diameter circle (this is called PCD – Pitch Circle Diameter).
