The breakthrough of electro-mobility – Premium Platform Electric (PPE)
Have you ever wondered what the future of electric cars will look like? Can we count on technology that combines luxury, performance, and innovation in a single solution? Audi and Porsche have decided to answer these questions by presenting the Premium Platform Electric (PPE)—a groundbreaking platform that has the potential to completely change the way we perceive electromobility. Forget about compromises—PPE promises faster charging, longer range, and incredible performance. If you're a fan of modern motoring, you absolutely must learn more about this technological revolution.
What is PPE?
The Premium Platform Electric (PPE) is a groundbreaking electric platform developed by Audi and Porsche. This system enables the design and production of high-performance electric vehicles that combine high efficiency, long range, and luxurious finishes. It is the first such advanced platform for SUV, sedans, and crossovers, offering an advanced 800-volt architecture and a range of cutting-edge technologies.

Why is Premium Platform Electric a breakthrough in the automotive industry?
The electrification of the automotive industry is gaining momentum, but many existing platforms are still based on outdated technologies or are adaptations of combustion engines. PPE is the first fully dedicated system for premium electric cars, solving many of the challenges faced by modern EVs (Electric Vehicles).
The biggest advantages of PPE
The 800V architecture allows for ultra-fast charging up to 270kW . This configuration allows PPE-based cars to charge much faster than competing electric vehicles. A 20-minute charge provides over 400km of range , solving one of the main challenges facing electric vehicles.
Modularity – PPE supports SUV, crossovers, sedans and sports models.
Advanced aerodynamics and lower weight mean greater range on a single charge. Thanks to efficient lithium-ion batteries and optimized aerodynamics, the PPE offers a realistic range of 600-700 km , eliminating the worry of frequent recharging. The PPE engines deliver up to 600 hp , enabling acceleration to 100 km/h in 3-4 seconds . Thanks to their low curb weight and optimal weight distribution, PPE-powered vehicles handle like sports cars.
Rear-wheel drive or AWD (quattro) – dynamic driving and sporty performance. The key advantage of four-wheel drive is improved traction, meaning increased grip when starting and accelerating. After all, it's better to push off the ground with four wheels, rather than two. To illustrate this difference, imagine an animal running on loose surfaces. Thanks to its intelligent design, the platform is optimized for rear-wheel drive or quattro.
Modern interiors – fully digitalized and equipped with modern infotainment systems. PPE vehicles offer a flat floor, more cabin space, and luxurious interiors tailored to the premium segment.
Problems of earlier electric platforms
Earlier EV platforms were often modifications of designs originally intended for combustion engines, which came with many limitations, including smaller battery space that reduced vehicle range, lack of optimization for aerodynamics and weight distribution, and limited fast charging capabilities.
PPE technology - how does it work?

PPE uses an advanced cooling and thermal management system that cools the high-voltage battery during charging and driving, manages the temperature of the motors and electronics to prevent overheating and improve efficiency, and optimizes interior temperatures using energy-efficient heat pumps.
Energy recovery system
Thanks to advanced energy recovery technology, PPE allows for increased range through regenerative braking and dynamic adjustment of energy recovery power, which improves driving comfort.
Full digitalization
PPE uses modern electronic architecture that provides advanced autonomous driving systems, personalized driver and passenger settings, and state-of-the-art infotainment systems based on artificial intelligence and augmented reality.
Vehicles recently introduced with the PPE system
A premium electric SUV designed to compete with the BMW iX and MERCEDES EQE SUV. It boasts a range of up to 700 km on a single charge and quattro all-wheel drive in high-power versions. Thanks to the advanced thermal management system offered by the PPE, it cools the batteries and electrical system much more efficiently.
The first all-electric Macan, with performance similar to the Taycan, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in around 3.5 seconds. It has a battery range of 600-650 km, which is very impressive considering the engine's power.
Bentley, Lamborghini and more…
PPE could form the basis for future luxury SUV models from Bentley and Lamborghini. In the coming years, we will undoubtedly see more brands adopting these, or very similar, solutions, as it is undoubtedly a revolution and a breakthrough in the automotive world. With innovative design, high performance, and fast charging, Audi and Porsche are demonstrating that the future of premium motoring lies with modern, electric platforms.
In summary, the Premium Platform Electric is a milestone in the electrification of the premium segment. Audi and Porsche are proving that electromobility can combine luxury, performance, and comfort, setting a new standard in the industry. It will be interesting to see whether PPE technologies are adopted for more affordable models in the future.
