UT Jurewicz Suwałki Rally. Report by LadneFelgi.pl

Last Sunday (May 29, 2022), all rally fans were treated to an event unlike anything Suwałki had ever seen. The UT Jurewicz Suwalski Rally, organized by the Suwałki Automobile Club, took place under the Honorary Patronage of the Mayor of Suwałki. Participants had three locations to race in, trophies awaited the winners, and an official fan zone was created for spectators. Of course, we were there as sponsors and participants in this celebration of motorsport. Watch our report.

The races were preceded by an official parade through the city center and an honorary start by Mayor Czesław Renkiewicz. Thirty-six crews from across the region lined up for the race. On Saturday, the day before the official start of the competition, an administrative inspection took place, and each crew had to undergo a mandatory vehicle inspection. On Sunday, the rally program included nine special stages at three locations in the city: the "Zielna" karting track, the "Multishop" parking lot, and the "Leśna" section. This represented a total of over 70 kilometers of racing. An official fan zone was set up at the karting track near ZS6. Guests could follow the crews' progress, chat with the competitors, see the rally cars up close, and enjoy a bite to eat from a food truck.

"This is a race for anyone with a car and a driver's license. The routes were well-prepared. The changeable weather, especially the rain, made driving difficult. After one of the special stages, we lost air from a tire and had to drive the rest of the rally on a spare tire. Interestingly, despite this, we achieved better results," says Andrzej Pietrewicz, who, along with co-driver Arkadiusz Szejda, finished 33rd.

The rally proved to be great fun, and commemorative trophies were awarded to the best crews. Krzysztof Chałko and Maciej Ślązak, driving an Audi 80 Quattro, won the driver's competition. Second place went to Tomasz Jurkun and Jan Balczun, and third place went to Łukasz Bielecki and Emil Zagórski.
