Hardness class and manufacturing quality – why must wheel bolts / nuts be strong?
The answer is simple: the higher the material’s hardness class, the greater its tensile strength and resistance to deformation. In the automotive and aerospace industries, where safety is paramount, bolts / nuts with higher hardness classes are used. Universal wheel bolts / nuts are manufactured to a high hardness class, which ensures excellent mechanical and physical properties, including high tensile strength and excellent resistance to deformation.
In Poland, bolt / nut hardness classes are standardised under PN-M-82084, which distinguishes 10 hardness classes (min. – 3.6, max. – 12.9). The higher the number, the stronger and harder the product.

➡ Bolts are best tightened using a torque wrench to achieve the correct clamping force.
➡ The wheel tightening torque recommended by the manufacturer can be found in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
➡ Insufficient tightening may cause steering wheel vibration. Ignoring this can lead to the wheel becoming loose and eventually coming off.
➡ Overtightening may damage the threads.
➡ Remember to tighten wheel fasteners in a criss-cross pattern to distribute the clamping force evenly.
➡ After driving 100 km, check the tightening torque again and make sure the fasteners have not loosened.
